Fluid–structure–growth modeling in ascending aortic aneurysm: capability to reproduce a patient case

Biomechanics and Modeling in Mechanobiology

Figure from “Fluid–structure–growth modeling in ascending aortic aneurysm: capability to reproduce a patient case”

Question

Can a coupled flow, wall and growth model reproduce the evolution of a real patient case?

What the paper shows

A growth and remodelling model of the wall, driven by wall shear stress from flow simulations, was calibrated on one patient. It reproduced the observed growth, and showed that inflow direction and tissue prestretch shape the simulated growth pattern.
