Towards a reduced order model for EVAR planning and intra-operative navigation

Computers in Biology and Medicine

Figure from “Towards a reduced order model for EVAR planning and intra-operative navigation”

Question

Can reduced-order models support endovascular planning and navigation?

What the paper shows

A reduced-order model was trained on 300 parametric finite element simulations of the interaction between the vessel wall and a stiff guidewire. It estimated the resulting displacement almost in real time, with errors below 5.5% on the validation cases.
