Effect of turbulence and viscosity models on wall shear stress derived biomarkers for aorta simulations

Computers in Biology and Medicine

Figure from “Effect of turbulence and viscosity models on wall shear stress derived biomarkers for aorta simulations”

Question

How much do modelling assumptions change wall shear stress indicators in the aorta?

What the paper shows

The combined effect of turbulence and viscosity models on wall shear stress was quantified for the first time. Non-Newtonian viscosity mattered more than turbulence modelling, and the two effects interact rather than simply adding up.
