Assessment of shape-based features ability to predict the ascending aortic aneurysm growth

Frontiers in Physiology

Figure from “Assessment of shape-based features ability to predict the ascending aortic aneurysm growth”

Question

Which shape descriptors, beyond diameter, carry information on aneurysm growth?

What the paper shows

Fifty patients scanned at least six months apart. Alongside maximum diameter, three local shape features were computed from the first exam and used to classify fast and slow growth. Classifiers using all four features outperformed those based on diameter alone.
